The Crucible was definately a book worth reading. I learned, if this is an acurate description of Puritans, that they had wierd superstitions. The Puritans are quite rash with their decision making and believe it is fine to kill someone if that person is a “witch.”
After reading this book I would like to find out who the actual people that the characters in the play represented were. I would also like to know how accurate the play was to the actual Salem witch trials. I would like to know more about why Arthur Miller wrote The Crucible. After reading this play, I would like to see a production of The Crucible, if I ever get a chance to.

Hawthorne is a judge in the Salem Courts. He is running the trials and trying his hardest to get people to confess that they are guilty. In the Court, Giles claims he has evidence that is basically nothing and everyone believes him. The trials continue and people are getting put in jail and are hung.
I think that the people who are accusing the other people of being witches are a bit out of their minds. I am wondering why the people are bothering to accuse the others of being witches and wonder how these accusations will solve anything. I hope that the plot continues to thicken.

The Crucible is going well so far. I have read the first two acts of the play and I enjoy how scary it is. Since it is a play, it is difficult to read because it has no description other than dialogue about what is going on. What I am wondering is, if Abigail was murdered or are they predicting that Abigail will be murdered?
I find this book interesting because of Arthur Miller’s depiction of the Puritians, who he depicts as very quiet when times are normal, but very frantic when something out of the ordinary happens, such as witchcraft. I hope the Crucible continues to interest me and make me shiver while reading it.

My expectations about The Crucible, by Arthur Miller, are that it will freak me out a little and be suspenseful. I read “My Brother Sam is Dead” that took place during the American Revolution. We learned a bit about the Salem Witch Trials in American History. I went to Salem, Mass. with my confirmation class in the spring of 2005 as part of our trip to Boston. I say the graves of some of the people who were hung during the Salem Witch Trials. The graves just names and the year of death. One grave said “crushed to death.”
Because this book was written during the “Red Scare”, I think that the author will connect something about communism into the play. I don’t know which side Arthur Miller was on during the Red Scare, and it will be interesting to see.
